Why We Can't Stay Silent: A Clarion Call to God's Teachers

Last night, I had a conversation with a friend that's been weighing on my heart. We talked about how demoralizing it can be to witness the noise and confusion running rampant in the Christian community online. When anyone can voice an opinion, craft a message, and broadcast it to thousands, the result is often chaos. People hear one person saying this, another saying that, and they're left wondering what to believe.

It's frustrating because I know there are believers out there who care deeply about the integrity of God's Word being preached. We care about people not being confused. We care about people knowing the truth. But many of these faithful voices feel called to speak but are hesitant to engage because they don't want to add to the noise.

I get it. I really do.

But then I watched the news video I'm reacting to in the TikTok video below, and it reminded me why we can't afford to stay silent.

The Sobering Reality

An "apostle" in Houston, Texas was just arrested for running a $50 million labor trafficking ring. This man was forcing people to work for him, pressuring his church members with impossible donation quotas, and allegedly coercing women into sexual activity and even forcing them to take emergency contraceptives.

When I see stories like this, I'll admit it can feel overwhelming. Sometimes I wonder, what's the point? Evil seems to be running rampant, and the false voices seem so loud.

But then I remember something crucial: I am not called to do God's job. I'm called to do my job.

Why the Faithful Must Speak Up

My job is to tell the gospel. To spread the truth of God's Word. To equip believers with the tools they need to study Scripture for themselves, to discern truth from error, to dig deep into the text using concordances and proper exegesis.

Here's what I told my friend, and what I believe God has been impressing on my heart: If the confusing, false voices are going to be loud, we have to be louder.

Not louder in volume or drama, but louder in consistency. Louder in truth. Louder in love.

We have to trust the Holy Spirit to guide people to the correct voices. We have to believe that when we consistently show up with biblical truth, people will sense the resolve and peace that comes from hearing God's actual Word. The right people will hear the right message.

Our Responsibility

I believe God is calling His faithful people off the sidelines. Yes, there's a lot of noise online. Yes, there are false teachers causing damage. But we cannot let our desire to avoid adding to the confusion keep us from fulfilling our calling to speak truth.

We have to care about souls more than we fear being misunderstood.

When wolves are devouring the sheep, the answer isn't for the shepherds to remain silent. The answer is for faithful shepherds to speak truth with even greater clarity and consistency.

Equipping, Not Enabling

My heart isn't to create followers who just accept whatever I say. My passion is to give people the tools they need to:

  • Better understand God's Word

  • Learn to discern for themselves

  • Study the Bible with proper methodology

  • Use resources like concordances to dig deeper

  • Exegete Scripture correctly

When believers are equipped to handle the Word of God accurately, they become much harder to deceive.

The Choice Before Us

Stories like the one from Houston remind us that the stakes are real. People's lives, families, and faith are being destroyed by those who twist Scripture for personal gain.

So we have a choice: We can stay on the sidelines to avoid adding to the noise, or we can trust God to use our faithful voices to cut through that noise with His truth.

I choose to trust that consistency in truth will always find its way to the hearts that need to hear it.

The question is: What will you choose?

What are your thoughts on this? Have you felt called to speak truth but hesitated because of all the noise online? I'd love to hear your perspective in the comments.
